What to do on a warm sunny weekend day in Amsterdam #2?!
On our second warm sunny weekend day we visited yet another playground. This one had the remnants of a small petting zoo; apparently it is closing soon so the animals were slowly being placed elsewhere. However Ruby really thought the leftover rooster was a riot.
On a sidenote--she has yet to forget about feeding the ducks. She'll still often exclaim "duck, pain" (bread) whenever we sit down to eat a sandwich. And while biking through Amsterdam, she is so excited to spot a duck (there aren't many at all compared to Leusden). She also thinks there could very well be "phoques" in the gazilion canals of this beautiful city--called the Venice of the North--and tries to convince me of that while we pedal on our way somewhere.
Anyways, given the warm weather, we're all into snacking nice cold refreshing fruits. Here the three kids swarmed me for grapes during our playground visit. Tom and I were lucky to score a few ourselves.
And, after the obligatory naps for the kids and short respite from children's activities for the parents, Marcella and I, and the three kids biensur, headed out to the Amsterdam Forest, on the southern edge of the city. They had an amazing foot pool which was packed and very very noisy. Ruby stole buckets from wherever she could (note to myself--take a bucket to the pool next time) and spent almost the entire time walking down the small steps, filling the bucket with water, walking up the steps and emptying the bucket. Given another few hours and she would have had that pool all emptied out. (When I'm settled in France I'll post a video of this serious endeavour.)
