Almost every single day Ruby and I will drive to Monpazier (the pic with Ruby eating an ice cream does not even begin to show how beautiful that main square is in Monpazier, click on th link to get a better shot) to visit my Oma (my mom's mom). Ruby will often ask, on getting in the car, "Oma?" She seems to have developed some slight bond with Oma, which is quite something given how Oma struggles to be present. She'll bring Oma one of her stuffed animals and giggles when Oma dredges up from her sadly deteriorated Alzheimer's mind finger games to tease Ruby with.

But the real highlight of the trip to Oma is the resident dog, Charley. Charley and Ruby will chase each other around the facility, charming all the residents to no end.

And when we get back, Ruby has to spend some time driving the car. She'll climb in and out herself, lock and unlock the car (I always make sure I don't forget the keys in the car), turn on the radio full blast and just generally be thrilled to finally be in control of the steering wheel. She can be busy like that for a long time--too bad a car won't fit in our living room in Brooklyn.
