During my college years I was, in fact, part of a trio--Marcella, Wendela and myself (and respective boyfriends). Over the years we have stayed in touch; sometimes even with conference calls linking New York to Amsterdam and Tokyo (where Wendela lived for a few years). The last time we all saw each other was five years ago, in New York--without any kids!

So there we were, five kids later. We spent the entire day in Wassenaar (close to Den Haag, the political capital of the Netherlands, where Wendela works for the Foreign Ministry), at Wendela, husband Marnix, Elise (3) and Sanno's (8 weeks!) house, with enormous garden. We had gorgeous weather, so the kids played and played and played some more, and us gals watched them and caught up. When we left at the end of the day everyone was happily exhausted.

And now Wendela, Marcella and I are busy planning for our next--kid and men-free--reunion in Mexico or Argentina!
