Thank you Auntie Mary for these pictures! Ruby got to, as Mary wrote, explore her farming Hyland roots while she was in Maine.

I think I've mentioned before that she loves tractors, so imagine her delight when a tractor with a huge bail of hay drove by Mary and John's RV! She sat on the tire, and then demanded to be put in the drivers seat. The farmer and his six year old kid Silas (who was quite confidently steering the tractor through the field while sitting on his dad's lap) were happy to oblige. They had never met anyone from NYC before and asked if we lived in a skyscraper. (Later they came back to drop off a super tasty freshly picked peach which Ruby devoured.)

Below Ruby was given a paper cup full of food to feed to the goats. First she tossed most of the food on our side of the fence, which drove the goats crazy. Then she squeezed the empty paper cup through the fence for the goats to chew on, which they did happily.

Maybe she should stick to driving a tractor and leave the animal feeding to someone else.

Wow, this tractor is nothing compared to Papy's old Massey Ferguson! And I thought I recognized the goat fence but who the heck thinks that a clever kid like our Ruby can feed goats through a difficult fence like that ?
Rest assured, Ruby, Mamie would have made a mess of it as well !
Love, M.
