On day two we drove to meet our friend Jen in Brooksville, Maine. Jen moved from Brooklyn to Maine to work on an organize farm for a year. Jen lives on her farm and didn't really have space for us to sleep, so she arranged for us to all stay in an old barn house that was once a bed and breakfast.
Ruby was completely thrilled by the chickens at the barn house and helped Jen and Liam (a caretaker of the barn house) put the chickens to bed and went out to wake them up the next morning.
While in Jen's corner of Maine we witnessed a beehive inspection, checked out Jen's farm (where we refilled up on seltzer too thanks to Jen's soda maker), had all kinds of fried fish and food for lunch (with "checkup please," said Ruby), dabbled in a lake, ate lots of fresh fruit and veggies and continued changing countless poopy diapers because Ruby ate half a pint of blueberries on the car ride up to Maine.
End of day Saturday we hopped back in the car for a shorter one hour trip to Morrill, where David's aunt Mary and her husband John live. Live, that is, when they're not traveling through the U.S. in the luxurious RV. But for the summer their RV has been parked in one of their many fields, and John has been fixing up part of their barn/house. Jen, David, Ruby and I slept upstairs in the barn, where Ruby, to her delight, was allowed to scooter.

All sounds like a lot of fun and so happy for you. So ??? due to the blueberries and the seaweed, how is the diaper stock ?
I love the "check-up" - sounds a bit like the "hostipal" and the "ephelant" of Ruby's mom at that age.
Hug and kiss for y'all. M.
