On Ruby's birthday yesterday we went to the Queens County Farm (a huge farm just 30mins from our house--we plan to go back often). They had an amazing fair this past weekend and we were unbelievably tuckered out when we got back home. There were farm animals, rides, food, music and tons of people, all on a hot day. But as always, Ruby had plenty to discover and she loved it.

Just before we left she got a quick ride on a pony. I asked the woman leading the pony if I could walk alongside Ruby, and that was of course fine. Once installed beside an excited babe, I thought to ask Ruby if she needed me there and she practically shooed me back to the sidelines with impatient hands. So lesson learned--she'll tell us if she needs us by her side from now on out.
