The last time my sister Jaya was visiting from her home city, Paris, I was past my due date and she was the "fetcher." This time she is the "carrier," not so much because my back is sore (although I'm happy for the break), but because it's so much fun carrying around her little niece. Of course, she is also affectionately now known as tia (aunt in spanish) Jaya. Ruby loves her, even allowing her to take care of her during her usual fussy hour at the end of the day, while David and I picked up our new second-hand car last night.

Yesterday Ruby, tia Jaya and I got a bunch of chores done. I bought some new clothes, we went grocery shopping at our food co-op (where we bumped into my shift coordinator Alexis, who insists on calling Ruby "Galatica"), we bought a small pack of special newborn Pampers (my folks have graciously offered to order and pay for all Ruby's diapers, so we use unbleached Seventh Generation diapers, which are just fine if we change them often, but we thought we'd try some fancy absorbing diapers for night, so I don't have to wake her up more than I need to) and we had a yummy breakfast at Cousin John's (best french toast ever according to Jaya). Not all in that order.

Today it's pouring, so we're hanging out at home. Well, Jaya is popping in and out--she just got her nails done so is feeling all fancy again.

News update regarding David's mom: she's going home today and we're awaiting the results of the biopsies they did yesterday. Initial results seem to show that besides a bad case of pneumonia there is no cancer, so we're hopeful and happy.

Soon to come: I'll show you all what was in one of the boxes that tia Jaya brought with her. Think Baby Dior.
