Today Ruby and I trekked into Manhattan to see my good friends Manuel (visiting for the second time in six months--keep on coming so often mon ami!) and Claudio, visiting from Montreal.

We had brunch at Flors Kitchen--a place Ruby has already frequented a few times already, the last time being with tia Jaya. It was a gorgeous day and we had a great time! Ruby loved the guys, not protesting at all when Claudio opened up his arms to take her. We were able to dine outside, on the sidewalk, so Ruby got to see plenty of "chiens" walk by. We had eggs and arepas and Ruby had bread and avocado and quite a bit of Claudio's fried plantain.

Manuel--always the photographer--even taught Ruby how to take a self portrait, and he promised her he would soon teach her how to photoshop out the mosquito bites on her face.
