Today was another Marsha-David sans Ruby day. We had a leisurely breakfast in SoHo, wandered down Manhattan's west side highway (sounds horrible, but the highway notwithstanding, it's alongside the Hudson River and there is a biking/roller blading/walking pathway), checked out an amazing playground for Ruby in Battery Park City and then had a leisurely lunch. Once back in Brooklyn David headed out for the beach and I relaxed with a book at Joyce's Bakeshop (our neighborhood cafe) until it was time to pick up a sleeping in the stroller Ruby.
Because us girls were on our own this evening and we didn't want to cook, we joined Megan, Adam, EJ, Amanda and a bunch of other friends at the Habana Outpost, an awesome cuban eatery (eco-eatery to be precise, solar panels and all) which as it happens, is also in our hood (we just didn't know about it yet). And even though Cuban sandwiches come with tons of pork traditionally, they have yummy vegetarian options. Ruby shared some rice, beans and fried plantain with EJ, although she loved the beans best and smeared them all over her face and Amanda's pants.
Wish us luck as we head into day four (or five, I lose count) of 92F/33C temps in the city. Hot hot hot.

cool photos and wish us luck as well : we are also in the middle thirties range where temps are concerned... but at least have a pool, which we don't use. makes sense, eh?
by the way : did you cut ruby's hair, looks a bit sparse on top of her head. or did we get spoiled with all the lovely piggy tails photos before?
love, m.
