David is home, so I have more time to write. And we discovered that Ruby sleeps better during the day when we swaddle her, so she's wrapped up like a little burrito right now and snoring (more like snorting) peacefully.
I wanted to get these pics up here to show off the amazing quilt that David's sister, Ro, made for Ruby. Handmade especially for her. Ruby loves it already and does her morning gymnastics on it.
We had a mellow day today; wandered up to the farmers market and bought some goats yoghurt. Am working up the courage to try it. Also strolled through Prospect Park, where some of the leaves are already changing colors. Ruby didn't get to see those, as she was snorting some more in her sling.
Our biggest story today was Ruby's morning wash. David is in charge of that and does a wonderful job, washing her face, treating her still slightly dry skin with olive oil and giving her a freshly diapered start. Except that this morning he forgot to put on a diaper. A few minutes later he's wandering around with her (part of his morning ritual too; he tours the apartment with Ruby and discusses the plans for the day) and suddenly I see him lurching forward as a stream of urine cascades to the floor, partially soaking him in the process too. I think Ruby was enjoying the fresh air on her butt and thought she'd make use of the situation. Smart girl.
