Yesterday our friends Rob & I-Shien took us along to help them pick apples from a tree that they lease at the Liberty View Farm just north of the city. Because it is already getting late in the apple picking season we actually picked clean three pesticide-free Cortland apples trees--well as high as we could reach. We also made cider on the spot with a bag of our apples, and Ruby fed the goats and rabbits and chickens as much fresh grass as she could find. And thankfully Ruby and I-Shien kept themselves busy with games on my phone while we were stuck in traffic on the ride there and back. It was a great day--and exhausting. When we got home we got busy getting the babe to bed--but she said she was just going to rest with her eyes open because she wasn't tired. I was barely done saying fine, that's okay, before I heard her snoring.

How nice to have someone along who is up for the task of small-child amusement! I gave in earlier this year and bought a portable DVD player for the car, since the 2 1/2 hour car-trip to Grammie and Pappa's is very long when the kidlet asks questions for the entire ride.
I think I'm going to post some apple recipes on my blog. I've been trying to whittle down the 15-20 lb stash we picked last weekend.
