As promised, some pics from yesterday. Note especially how we had Ruby test the sturdiness of her new sun tent before using it. Can't ask for better quality control! And admire, once again, our trusty ergo. Here Ruby is showing off the hip carry; her favorite position when she's awake and wants to be able to see where we're going.

Watch Hill, on Fire Island, is an awesome beach. David and I have been going there every summer since I moved to NY and we were excited to get Ruby out there too. Fire Island is a small island south of Long Island and Watch Hill is the beach furthest east on the island, so it's quite a trek--1hr15mins to the ferry and then another 30mins on the ferry. But well worth it, even though it often means braving horrible traffic on the way there, as many many NYers go out to Long Island for the many many beaches. The good thing about Watch Hill is that you can't drive right there, so that thins out the crowd considerably and even on busy days like Fathers Day, there wasn't a big crowd on the beach. Come visit and we promise we'll take you out to our favorite spots on Fire Island!
