The weather was a little off today, so we decided to hike from our house in Davis Park to the Pines, 4 miles (approx 6kms) east of here. We were prepared, with hiking backpack, raincoat for babe and plastic bags to keep our stuff dry.

While it was chilly and it did start pouring on the way back, fun was had by all. We saw a sloooooow turtle race away from us, some deer, and plenty of nice houses in different smaller communities between here and there that we could never ever afford to rent (and aren't serviced by a ferry or are close to any store). Ruby was thrilled by the grocery store in the Pines because they had so much more stuff than the store here in Davis Park, including marshmellows.

And she was so pooped out from not napping for many days on end now that she fell asleep in the backpack on the way home. It was quite a sight--she was perching her head on David's shoulders, rain beating down on her red raincoat, wind blowing us practically over and yet she snored peacefully while we tried to make decent time in the wet sand.
