Some impressions from our weekend in Chicago at the TDU Convention. Ruby walked and walked and then walked some more, the whole time smiling and waving and saying hi and bye at everyone, and then walk-running away and back to the stairs where she would sit on the bottom step and smile some more, and then walk around some more with her little red car, still smiling. Did I mention that she had a really good time?! The time changes (we lost one hour flying to Chicago, then gained one because of daylight savings and then gained another when we flew back to NYC) wrecked havoc on her naps and sleeping though, but she did the best she could, and that was pretty awesome. The proof: look at her being generally pretty perky at 9pm (ie 10pm her old time) in the evening!

We're really glad we went. David got to do some schmoozing with his Teamster activists and taught his "running for local union office" workshop. I missed the last two conventions, after having attended yearly since 2001 (where I met David for the first time!), so was happy to see old friends and introduce our babe to them--which incidentally was all that some folks wanted. When we arrived Ruby needed to sleep, so David went for a walk with Ruby in the ergo and I went in to register and check-in to the hotel solo, sans bebe. My welcoming reception: "Oh hi, nice to see you, (but) where's the babe?"!

Something totally else, but oh so important: It's Roos' birthday today in Leusden, the Netherlands. Lang zal ze leven...! Een dikke (natte) kus van Ruby speciaal voor jou Roos. Tot kerst!
