I want to kick back and chill, just like that. Yup, no doubt about it. Instead I'm out and about constantly having fun with the babe--I know, what a drag--or working like the crazed person that I am these days. Drop the work and add in a little "me time" and I'd be totally taking a break and just do some serious people-watching like the cute lemur above.
Bronx Zoo was cool though. Megan and I took EJ and Ruby and, then at the last minute, we added Sade to the girls-day out. We just wandered around, took a train ride, ate snacks and bad zoo food, and mediated a few small incidents.
On Friday we're all going to Detroit for the Labor Notes 2010 Conference. I pulled out the suitcase this morning and Ruby decided to occupy it. She has a huge basket of books, her snow boots, a flashlight (behind her) and her blanket and pillow. She's all set right?! Oh, and those pj pants were her pants of choice for the day today. Pick your battles is all I can say.

We had a little rough patch with the babe for a few weeks. Actually, Ruby and I had the rough patch, because I would just draw blank stares from David when I would describe the wild tantrums of the day. Suddenly from one day to the other she lost the tiny bit of perspective she had about most things and also all patience disappeared. Bad combo. Everything was the worlds most important issue and everything needed to be right away, right there, now. While I have more to say, I'm too tired from the 3.5 year-old toddler rollercoaster we've been on for a few weeks!
