Life has been topsy-turvy for Ruby lately, although not in a bad way for the most part. Generally I think it's a been a combination of our work and political activism seeping into her life, her sometimes awkward phases of learning, testing, reacting and adpating, the fact that Marie now watches another kid fulltime alongside Ruby and Ruby's own busy social life.
Sometimes though it's just all too much for everyone.
Sadly Margaux, a little friend from the neighborhood, got to experience that full on when Ruby bit her during a playdate at her house this week. Sophie, her mom, and I weren't present when it happened, but we quickly saw the bite mark and that then in turn explained, kind of, why Ruby was holding her mouth while screaming.
David and I are trying harder to make sure that we plan some downtime into our busy days and weeks, just to chill, but also to give her our complete attention and love. Beyond frequent reminders that biting hurts and doesn't resolve anything, it just seems like that is what will get her, and us, through almost anything.

Yup, jiggling time between work and family is always the hardest thing. And the biting + screaming are an expression of frustration, rage and fury which she doesn't know how to channel... as yet. Don't worry : it'll come, with lots of patience...
Oh the lovely time of "baby adolescence !"
