Last weekend we blissfully spent hanging out with our friends Mary, John and their two girls, Marie (5) and Ana (4) in Lynn, Massachusetts (20mins north of Boston).
Last time we saw them, end of August, Ruby wasn't yet at that age or development where she could/would play interactively with other kids. In the last few weeks that has really changed though.
With Ana and Marie she would climb up and down two flights of stairs (gulp) and jump up and down on the bed in the spare bedroom while we were all downstairs chatting. Then they would go into Marie's bedroom and read books together on the couch. They ran circles around the first floor chasing each other. And the whole while they giggled, laughed, and talked. It was just marvelous to watch.
On Saturday it was pouring cats and dogs, so we spent a chunk of the day at the Boston Science Museum, where they have a section dedicated to kids 5 and under. Hence the funky air (the idea was really to throw a balloon above the wind tunnel and see it floating in the air).
