This weekend Ruby meet her fake-grandparents from Leusden, the Netherlands. Karin & Jos were my second/adopted family when I lived in the Netherlands and their kids, Roos & Tom, are like an extra sister and brother to me.
We had a wonderful time. The weather was gorgeous. Ruby was in a great mood even though she didn't quite get the naps she needed. Natuurlijk was het NOG leuker geweest als jullie erbij waren, Roos en Tom...maar we kijken alvast uit naar kerst in Frankrijk en heel erg bedankt voor jullie leuke kadotjes!
Latest Ruby news:
* Ruby can wave. On Friday we thought her goodbye wave for Marie was accidental, but Saturday morning she clearly waved to Momo, Joyce's Bakeshop owner. Since then she hasn't stopped waving and clearly loves the reaction it gets. She has a unique wave, as she flaps her hand up and down.
* Getting her to sleep, for naps or bedtime, has been an ordeal these past few days. As soon as we put her down she wants to start testing out all kinds of new sounds she can make and starts talking more than she does when she's up. While chatting up a storm she then starts rolling over and if there weren't pillows on the bed to stop her, she'd roll off the bed (she can only roll one way for the moment). All the meanwhile she's grinning ear to ear because she's just so proud of her accomplishments. None of this is conducive to sleeping of course. It seems like she's going through another mega developmental spurt and until the novelty wears off, or she can get a handle on her body, thank goodness for the hammock in the living room.
