Ruby has been working on her reading skills quite a bit lately. This past weekend she really got into the paper, literally. I had to use a box of wipes on her hands after David let her lose with the restaurant review section.
As I'm writing this Ruby is soundly snorting through her first morning nap. We still use the hammock, but are now also getting her used to sleeping in her bed for her naps. This morning she was out within minutes and has even managed to stay asleep beyond her normal 40-minute cutoff. So I'm sad to say that the era of napping in the sling is probably over for good. My back can breath a sigh of relief, but I do miss that closeness.
Speaking of backs, Ruby and I are off to a babywearing meeting in Manhattan this afternoon. She is getting heavy and when we're out and about the bjorn just kills my back. All the weight is on the shoulders, so it's not the most ergonomic carrier invented. However I really love wearing her, and have no desire to use a stroller, so we're going to explore other carriers and see what we like. Stay tuned!
