So Jaya is here! And Ruby is soooo happy. Truly, hug Jaya all the time, ask her to play play and watch me, kind of happy. And they had a stellar first day together, playing inside forever, hitting the sprinklers, getting ice-cream (at which point I got a text from Jaya that Ruby had decreed her "best aunt ever!") and enjoying themselves thoroughly. Both were soundly asleep at 8pm.

Other than that, it's unbelievably crazy hot. These last few days we've gone over 100F (37C) and that's just pretty yucky in the city, especially with the humidity levels hitting huge highs too. Our air conditioners can barely keep up and we're just getting used to the constantly dripping sweaty faces.

The drying out factor of the AC, especially in our bedroom at night, did me in though. I spent most of last week getting slowly but surely sick and the day before Jaya arrived it was clear I had a massive sinus infection. Thank goodness for antibiotics, although it doesn't seem to be fixing the water stuck in one of my ears, most likely due to repeated use of a neti pot before I had access to drugs. Just shout at me when you see me, because I'm a tad deaf and hoping hard it'll clear up without yet another trip back to the doc.
