We've had a busy few days here en la casa de Ruby. I'm enjoying the activity after a week of slow recuperation. Still have a ways to go to get back to my old physical self, but in the meantime a short walk a day perks me right back up. And Ruby loves napping in the sling, so she willingly goes along for the ride. Today we popped out to visit briefly with Lara, one of my prenatal yoga teachers, at the end of one of her classes.
Our big family visit on Tuesday/Wednesday was a blast; Ruby loved her grandma Pat, aunt Lissa and cousins Blake & Ellaina (see pic) and Blake & Ellaina got to do some big city stuff, like shop for a few souvenirs, admire Manhattan from our roof and eat greasy Chinese food.
While they went grocery shopping for us David & I took Ruby for her first pediatrician visit. It all went smoothly, even though the walk to the doc took about double the normal time because I'm still hobbling a little. Ruby (or was it David?!) attracted a lot of stares while in her sling which David carried. She is in perfect form; already gaining weight steadily. We're calling her our little lizard right now, because she is shedding her dry skin and leaves a trail wherever she goes.
Yesterday we had more visits: Josh & Tony brought yummy middle-eastern food for lunch and Pam came by with nine-month old Robbie, who used some of Ruby's toys to pass time while we all chatted. Jen visited last night and held a sleeping Ruby for quite some time, to the relief of my sore arms. Today Clare & Ansar are visiting and we expect more visits tomorrow.
The shoes: my sister Jaya decided that she needs to be in charge of Ruby's special fashion-savvy wardrobe. So when she was here on a visit last week from Paris (sadly enough just days before Ruby was born) she presented us with Ruby's special Baby Dior shoes. Pretty cool.
